HD receiver and PVR question

I currently have a PVR 508 and I plan on purchasing the new 811 HD receiver when available. My question is, i would like to use both units, how can I set up my config to watch HD programming and switch to the 508 and record programming?? I know this may sound complicated, and I do apoligize. It is a concern that I have. I really don't wanna shell out 700 bucks for the HD and PVR receiver when its available. Any advice would be much appreciated.

You need to connect both receivers to your HD set. I have my 6K connected via RGB and my 508 connected via S-Video. You then have to switch between the two receivers on your HD set.

You can do that or you can connect the 501/508 through one of the two RCA inputs on the 811, then you wouldn't need to switch inputs on 811, because the 811 will display HD and SD at the same time, NO NEED TO EVER CHANGE INPUTS ON TV

You can even connect the RF output of the PVR to the 811 and watch it on Ch 3. It will be in guide along with your locals if you get any OTA. (Of course the PQ won't be quite as good as using the seperate S-Video input jack on your TV.)
