I guess they need that dish pointing at Telstar 7 to point at 105w or 121w. :)

Looks like they duplicated the Philadelphia "extra" channels at 61.5 for the time being. I am receiving them from 61.5 now.

Like I said in the original post, they probably need that dish they have pointing at Telstar 7 to point elsewhere.

They are preparing for 157, 105 and 121 now. Probably need everything they can find at the uplink centers.

All uplinking is done in either Gilbert, Arizona or Cheyenne, Wyoming. Fiber feeds from the local POPs to either of these two locations. No extra dish is required to uplink to 61.5 as they have been doing that for years.

As to the migration, I already had 61.5. No telling how many others already have it with the 4-sat setup.

DNSC has a service center in the middle of the market.

If they get a signal up on 105, the existing 129 dish can be repointed to 105 at the same time a dish is added for 61.5. All set for Superdish service without the dish. :)

Where do you get this gargantuan dish in short enough time frame? Remember 157 only appeared within the last couple of months and has a 120 day time deadline. I doubt they have much leeway with 121 either as they already lost and reclaimed the Ka band license.

There is a shortage of uplink frequencies. That is why EchoStar 7 and EchoStar 8 use 2 uplink locations, DirecTV plans to use at least 3 for DirecTV 7S, since they only have 11 frequencies at 119w.

fv3,

What makes you think that the Philadelphia "extras" won't stay at 61.5°?

See ya

Related to Philly market: Echostar should add WLVT 39 (PBS). It is receivable over the air in Pennsauken (E's POP). Its not Grade B, but it can be picked up. All the newspapers list WLVT and many people would like getting the station when the newspapers and guides list it. Comcast locally doesnt carry it on some systems, but carries it in PA mostly.

[UPDATED: I am getting the stations now off 61.5 and no duplicates on the EPG. Did the switch check as JohnH mentioned]

What model receiver?

I see you have 2 listings for each channel. Did you try both from the guide?

I do not have 2 listings on any of my receivers.

Try a switch check to reload the maps.

Try selecting the channel in the 8160 area.

Any plan to drop one of the NJN feeds?

WNJB and WNJS are both NJN.

DirecTV dropped WNJN and retransmits WNJS Camden into the NY market now. (correct me here if so, as I dont subscribe to DirecTV any longer).

Personally, I'd prefer the WNJB "New Brunswick" call on the hour, over WNJS "Camden". I hope E* chooses WNJB over WNJS. However, I hear the reception E* get of WNJB is poorer than WNJS.

They moved off those frequencies recently.

From a good source:

Effective Thursday, July 31st, the Philadelphia Must Carry channels will be available at the 61.5° orbital location. All new orders for Must Carry second dishes for Philadelphia DMA customers will no longer be the "tri-beam" larger dish.

We will have an offer for the existing Philadelphia DMA Must Carry customers to switch their dish in the near future. They will continue to receive these channels from the 129° orbital location until further notice.

That must have cost Dish a bunch of money to have to pay twice to keep those customers in that market. First the 129 dish now the 61.5 dish. Wonder how many oval 129 dishes will be for sale after this change is done unless they take the dish back.

Heh, from a good source sounds like from the CSCWeb from the McKeesport Call Center...
