I currently have the total choice plus package and the 10 dollar hd package and no premium movie channels.

I have my local stations, 2 sd dvr's and 1 hd dvr. So I'm paying the 5 dollar lease and dvr fee's.

I just wanted to know if I should switch to another package ??

Would it save me money ??

Thanks :)

Well, if you can live with the limited number of channels, the cheapest package is the Family Package for $29.99. Here is a [link (http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageNR.jsp?assetId=3950019&footernavtype=-1)] to the D* website that compares the packages.

Make a list of the channels you watch, and see if they are available on a low cost package. Just remember, once you change from Total Choice Plus, you will end up paying more per month to get those channels back in a current package, as that package is no longer available. Also, a couple other packages currently offered are going bye bye on Feb 9th, and a new package Total Choice Ultimate (your current package with 11 movie channels) will be offered for $5 more than the current equivilent package.

How do you know this new "ultimate" package will offer 11 movie channels for an additional $5 a month?

I did all kinds of searches on the DirecTV web site using "ultimate", and the only results were a message saying you get a few more Sonic Tap music channels in this package.

I had the Total Choice plus a while back... then I noticed on my bill that I was being charged for my locals $6.00..there were other fees. and I added it up and compared it to the CHOICE XTRA™ + HD DVR. I switched and saved a couple of bucks...
