There had been previous talk of the NFL Channel showing reruns of the preseason games on D*** this exhibition season, but I haven't heard anything lately. Is this still their plan?

The NFL channel wont kick off until I believe sometime in October or November.
I wrote DTV and they responded by saying that the NFL Channel will not be turned on until September 7, 2003.

I think if the NFL wants to attract more viewers, they should allow pre-season games to be shown in out of market areas.

I e-mailed Directv to see when the NFL channel (703) would be turned on. their response was 9/7/03. I found this to be odd because of the following article listed below.
On whether his long-term vision for the NFL Network includes broadcasting or re-broadcasting games aired on network TV: "At the moment, we don't have any expectation that it will involve the live broadcasting of games. Will it involve the re-broadcasting of games after they've been televised on another network? I don't know. We got the resolution adopted at our meeting in March that in the preseason, at least, the NFL Channel would be a place where you can see all the preseason games on a non-conflicting basis. In other words, if there were a Jets game in New York or a Bears game in Chicago, the affiliate would still have that game exclusively on a live basis; the NFL Network would have it on a delayed basis. But the fan would be able to see all of the preseason games on some basis on the NFL Network."
I guess they aren't going to show Pre-season games on a tape delay basis.

Well, it's the NFL channel on September 7th, BUT the OFFICIAL NFL Network is not launching until my birthday, November 14th. :)
Sometimes Preseason games are on the sports pack channels but they are usually games that are already over. Just a Replay from the night before. I'm a big fan of football but I'd rather sit down to a live game than one tape delayed.
I checked out the Sports pack last night and all the preseason NFL games were BLACKED OUT. Last year even the Tape Delay broadcasts were BLACKED OUT as well.
NFL Channel being turned on on 11/4/03. Election day.
Are the NFL Channel and the NFL Network two different things? I remember from last season that there was a channel in the 700's; but I can't recall the name of it. :eek2:
The NFL Network will become the NFL Channel on 11/4/03. I believe it will be channel 703 on Directv.
From the NFL Network website, http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork,
a pop-up screen appears where you can see whether or not your cable/satellite provider plans to carry the channel.
Interestingly, it shows that Dish can carry the NFL Network if it wants. The pop-up window goes as far as forwarding a note to Dish requesting that the channel be picked up. I think everyone figured that Dish would be locked out of this channel, but apparently this is not the case.
