The following was sent to dealers this morning. I feel it is imortant enought to share with everyone. Please help stop the satellite tax!

In Connecticut on July 25, Governor John Rowland and the legislature, led by Senate President Kevin Sullivan and House Speaker Moira Lyons, agreed on a tentative budget “framework.” The specifics of the bill have not yet been disclosed, but preliminary reports indicate that the new 5% satellite TV service tax is still included. It’s possible that the budget could be finalized by the end of the week, so there’s not much time left to convince your elected officials that the satellite TV tax should be “taken off the table” or the current proposed bill should be scrapped all
together. We are confident that unless the Governor and the Connecticut legislature hear from you now, the tax will likely be imposed on your customers. Please call Governor John Rowland now at (860) 566-4840, and let him know that you oppose the satellite TV tax, or visit www.stopsatellitetax.com and use its letter-writing tool to send an e-mail to your state Senators and Representatives. Because the situation in Connecticut is very fluid, we recommend that you check the website for the latest news.

In Nevada, thanks to the support of our Retailers and subscribers, the satellite TV tax was not included in the state’s budget this year. The overwhelming grassroots opposition through e-mail and telephone calls really made a difference. Without your support, the cable industry would have surely succeeded in giving themselves a price advantage in the market. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the state up through the next legislative session because we’re not expecting the cable industry to give up just yet.
