i have totally stumped on this one folks. I have read many things on how to install a new hard drive. I would like to think i'm not a moron but this has me clueless.

I recently purchased an 80 gig seagate 5400 hard drive to replace my 17 gig hd in my 7200. i bought it brand new. The hard drive was placed in the receiver just as the other was and when the receiver was powered on, it dialed msn and downloaded the 63 files it needed to. Then it asked if i wanted to continue to connect to msn for their webtv service or i could power off. I powered it off because didn't want the webtv service. now the receiver keeps blinking at me... doesn't stop.

I was at a loss and thought something was wrong so i fdisked the hd and reformatted it... went throught the same process.

downloaded 63 items and did the same exact thing...

now it sits blinking at me...

Any help would be great.

I can stick the other hd back in and it works wonderfully, but would love the 80 gig hd in instead.

please email me or reply.

I installed a 40 gig harddrive on my dp a while ago. I cant remember the exact process. But i can tell you that you cant fdisk the harddrive. It wont work. You have to zero out the harddrive. There are a few sites explaining how to do this. Just do a search on google. Also, there are discussion groups on yahoo that talk about this as well.

One last thing, make sure the harddrive is set as master and not cable select or slave.

Good luck!
