Yet another E* dumper here. I've been with them since '97. One of the bennies of that long term relationship is that I get both feeds for the networks: east and west coast for NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX. Is there ANY way of getting this same service with DTV? A call to DTV made it sound unlikely (as in 'not a chance in hell'), but I figure maybe there's something in particular to ask for.
Currently use a 4000 + TiVo, and a 508 that powers 2 TVs using a UHF remote. The 4000+TiVo solution is on an Panasonic HDTV plasma. Suggestions on products to purchase welcome!
(just can't wait to have DirecTivo... no more DishPVR crap, and no more missed channel changes!)
thanks!
I doubt DISH could legally give you all the feeds today due to tightening of the SHVIA interpretations. If that is important stay with DISH. Otherwise check with local dealers in your area they will probably give you better service. If the cheapest price is what you want check out the Directv PVR forum posts.

It has been noted that Dish Network has a "looser" interpretation of the SHVIA qualification rules than Directv. They have had several rounds of distant net shutoffs, where Directv's toe-the-line approach has avoided them.
If you really live outside of the Grade B contour for your locals, Directv will add the distant nets you qualify for as soon as you ask for them. If you don't qualify because you can receive a signal that's Grade B or better, they will submit a waiver request on your behalf to your local channels. They're likely to be rejected, but maybe you'll get lucky.
And of course, you can always try "moving" ;)

Drop all your channels except for networks and its $5 for not having the basic package and
$5.99 for the networks for a total of $10.99. You could have your Dish system and have DirecTv as well but you would have to pay an extra $5 and not get the money out of your hardware. If one is dumping Dish for DirecTv due to the extra DVR charge and has this type of situation this sure does defeat the purpose. If it aint one thing its another.
