I activated the NFL ST 7-pay $44.99 early bird deal yesterday. Listed in my online account details is this:

02/10/2010 NFL SUNDAY TICKET 2010 HD - Charge $0.00 $0.00
02/10/2010 NFL Sunday Ticket 2010 - Charge $44.99 $5.93

Normally when you see the "HD - Charge $0.00", it is just showing that HD is activated for that particular sports package.

This could mean one of two things:

1. D* is including the HD games in the regular NFL ST subscription instead of having it in SuperFan. You could then add-on SuperFan for some of the other features like Game Mix, Supercast, etc.

2. SuperFan is now included in NFL ST which is why the 1-pay price went up to $314.

Thoughts? :goodjob:

I think the HD superfan $$ charge doesnt appear until superfan is actually available in the summer....i think.

But the "HD charge - $0.00" has never appeared for NFL ST there before, it was always for SuperFan only. It almost is like what you see with MLB EI now that HD games are included.

does this also mean that you can buy red zone on it's own?

Always had that HD - $0.00 in the spring, it "activates" the ability to get HD games. Been that way for a while. Superfan charges wont' start appearing until the August billing cycle typically.

WHOA

Sunday ticket is going up $45

This is going up too much each year. I was disappointed last year when I finally went HD 1/2 way through the season and they wouldn't even cut me a break to get superfan price. Now they are going to 7 payments of $45 when last year was 6?

Standard def football with DirecTV boxes is a joke. It looks 100% horrible forcing people to order HD. They must have the worst tuners in them for SD to try to make HD look better. Fortunately this year the Vikings were on network often enough that I saw some HD.

I for one will not pay $315 for football that's not HD. Hell I won't be paying $315 even if it is.

This sux.
After 20 years I finally get my wife into football and now we have to stop watching.

Oh and if you read their website the $315 is for SUNDAY TICKET ONLY, The Superfan pricing will be available for ordering in the future.

I can't post any links till after I have 5 posts but here it is. Just edit/copy/paste

https www directv.com/DTVAPP/content/sports/nfl_superfan

Wow, this is depressing.

Im really trying not to get worked up over this yet. The season just ended and I'm not gonna worry about next season. Ill take a long look at it in the summer time. The Patriots are my main focus and ST has no effect on that. So we will see what my finances are in the summer. I do like having choices other than what the locals give me though.

I've had NFL ST every single season since 1997. That may come to an end this year. It's just too damned expensive. :nono:

Same here had it since 1996 every year and the cost is off the charts this year. If the can't give me a deal on the new season, I will be watching what ever is on network tv.

Directv should stop selling it to individuals & just sell it to bars, clubs etc.
At least then we wouldnt have to hear the bitch & moan fest about the $$ every year.

Since I didn't have HD this year (apartment building has older mdu dish)....I had ST without HD and it was fine.

I just may do it again this year.

Saved me money

It really isnt the end of the world like some think

I guess it's a situation of "SD is in the eye of the beholder"

I'm guessing that it's mainly related to the type of TV that you're watching the games. Since I have a flt pnl HD TV, Sd games are a no-no with ST.

For me, I can watch my old TV/DVD's all day in 1.33:1 on my TV but I'm watching them thru a SD upconvert DVD player. I guess that takes the "SD sting" out of my viewing for my DVD's.

As for games, NFL, college football, NHL, MLB, this is where, for me, the difference in SD and HD is light-years apart.

ST was the reason that I waited until Aug '08 to enter the HD TV mkt and that's when I upgraded my DTV to HD. That was the 1st season that all of the ST games were available in HD.

It's HD or nothing here -- no way I would pay for SD Sunday Ticket at the current price. If I wasn't going to watch the games in HD, I would just listen on satellite radio to supplement the local & national games.

In fact, I'm considering doing just that.

I would be willing to bet that if the situation came up where you either had SD or radio....you would go with SD

Seriously people....the world didn't end.

I got to see the game just fine.

I am COMPLETELY with you all though on needing HD....I can NOT watch Golf in SD....always HD

So I understand.....

If the costs were the same, sure. But they're vastly different, and I can get a lot of HD football for free -- including typically 50% of more of the out-of-market team that I follow. So the cost-benefit of Sunday Ticket is definitely an issue that I am thinking about more seriously these days.

(I say this as someone who has purchased Sunday Ticket every year since it became available on C-band, but who is not among the majority whose favorite sport is NFL football.)

I was told the opposite that they'd be "willing to work" with loyal customers.
Im not about to cancel. Ill decide in August.

Instead, we'd hear a bitch and moan fest about how people would be willing to pay whatever DirecTV wanted, but DirecTV won't let them have it. The bitching and moaning won't stop, if you don't want to hear it, don't read the threads.

It still wouldnt be complaining about the price....it would be more like the complaining about not getting versus hd.

Also you wouldnt get the "ST is the only reason i kept directv" reasons anymore.

Also directv would then offer the NFLN redzone channel.

The pros (pun) still outweight the cons.

Approx 2 million NFL ST subs....almost 19 million D* subs...

So even if the 2 million left, D* still would have about 17 million subs...still more than E*.

I'm willing to bet that at least 80% of the people that bitch and moan about the price will still end up getting it. Just the way it is, and D* knows it!

Yeah, we'll get it with one of the annual deals they offer, making the price more reasonable.

I cancelled my auto-renew after the season, it's just too expensive and I get to see 6-8 games of my team anyways. I'm going with the (audio) NFL Field pass for $35. I know it's not the same but it's 10% of the cost.
