E sells 510 with discount lowball price and charges for DVR
E sells IDENTICAL 512 with free DVR for the life of the unit!
People buy whatever they want! Most here paid a good bit for their PVRs and at least I felt they aree a excellent value!
So whats wrong with this?????

Because then dealers have to stock TWO different models of the SAME unit - there's PLENTY wrong with it, go back to your drawing board Bob...
I don't think having a second unit in inventory is all that big of a deal. But even if it is you can offer the same deal just like replay did. Buy the unit at one price or another depending on service plan.

Just give us Tivo like features like season passes and name based programing for the new fee and you will be able to sell this fee to the public. Keep the fee on all receivers and it won't float. The key for Dish is to give people something for their money. Selling the same basic dvr functions like they are doing now with no upgrades that give you more features and Dish will shoot itself in the foot with this whole plan.

Some DPO owners got PTV free and some did not. and DISH kept track of that just fine. Mr. Haller and I don't alwys see eye to eye but he may be on to something here.

Well either free DVR use for more expensive receivers
Or a PAY free DVR offer like the DP one.
A special fee would likely discourage churn. Thats always a issue.
