I had two bad 722's in a row, so a tech brought me a 722k today.

I like the new remote :)

The colored buttons. What are they for? the tech said he didn't know. Course, he also told me that 'k' had more hard drive space than the regular 722 so his knowledge level wasn't high to begin with.

I believe they deal with Blu-Ray devices.

ok that makes sense. I've got a BD player with internet access. but I rarely use it so i probably won't bother.

I did notice the remote has a screen on the left side where you point another remote to it so it can 'learn'. the 722 remote didn't have that. so maybe I'll try that out.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm not sure about the BluRay but you should realize that your 722k remote can "learn" and store your list of timers so that they can be rewtored to a replacement 722k should you need one.

I didn't realize that possibility. How do you do that? Thanks.

yeah I mentioned that in my other post. I'm going to see if I can get it working with my roku that way.

The sensor on the left of the remote has nothing to do with the function of storing the timers and remote settings.

The Manuual that came with my 722k was absolutely terrible wrt the remote. They sent me a second remote which included a small manual that was great wrt the remote.

IIRC correctly, you set the remote 2' - 3' in front of the receiver and press and hold the "System Wizard" button ('0' Key) for a few seconds. Follow prompts on screen.
