I have two HR20 Receivers, and use two remotes to avoid confusion.
One is RF and the other is IR.
The RF I use to watch another TV in another room, and it's very erratic. I have to wave my arm around to finally get results.
Is there some way I can enhance the RF signal?

I'm not so sure that your arm movements have anything to do with how well the remote works. The rf remotes can be rather fickle, not always responding immediately to commands. That's my experience anyway.
How does the DVR with the IR remote work ? The latest software release did have an effect on performance on the HR platform.
RF remote response is very sporadic. I have 5 receivers in the same room and must use RF remotes. The receivers are very sluggish when responding to commands. There are constantly repeating keys, dropping keys and generally ignoring commands which results in a lot mis-keyed channel changing. Have found no fix, live with it!!

Which model HR20 do you have? If it's the -100, is the external stubby RF antenna connected?

There are 8 different IR codes available. I have all of my receivers in the same room and I use IR. I have always found the RF on the HR20-100s to be unreliable and yes the stubby RF antenna was connected.
