Grr. I called to have another R15 receiver turned on and it defaulted the HD access back on again since I have a HR10 Tivo on my account. I had to call back 4 different times to get a CSR that knew that the HR10 doesn't pick up any HD except a handful of channels and would take my HD access back off.

One guy before him even researched it he said. HR receiver means HD access, yeah, right. MPEG4 locals customers only, sure. One lady before him seemed pissed I even asked about it and spent a few minutes making a note that we had talked about it. She even told me to be quiet. "Silence while I finish up these notes."

They should make it not default HD when it is an MPEG2 receiver.

Point being, I win! :D

Anyone else have HR10(s) without HD access?

Note: R22s do unlock when you add HD access, but we all knew that... :)

You could use the HR10 to get your locals OTA if you can pick them up with an antenna. That might be a reason for the rule coming into play with the HR10. But hey, that's just me spitballing.

I have actually never tried OTA. I know that when they were analog the only way to get them was with a large antenna.

DirecTV has a lot of "defaults" in their system. I don't think the HR10 mpeg-2HD issue will go away anytime soon.

No offense, but why activate a R15? I've had two of them and thought they were very crippled, but that's just my opinion compared to what's out there now.

HR10's pick up only digital OTA. Primary and secondary market WITH scan capability for others. Works great for us especially with camping.

Well, I have two R22s too, if that helps.

I got the R15s because they were free. 1 was flat out given to me, then the other two I have came in a package deal of 4 receivers. I sold one of them to pay for the two R15s and HR10, and made $10 on top of that!

As they die off one by one I hope to get them replaced with an R16 or R22.

In some rare occasions, yes. Depends on you distance to your local network antenna's too.

It's over 100 miles.

Not a chance in H E [double hockey sticks]. Typical residential antenna's on roof with curvature of earth nets you about 75 on a good day.
