View Full Version : Is my switch bad?

The question that I am asking pertains to my BellExpressVU system, however being that it is identical to my DP301, I though I could ask it here.

Bell has 2 sats for DBS at 82 and 91. I recently purchased a used Legacy LNB and SW21 to receive the 82 sat in addition to the 91. Both LNB work fine. I've swapped them back and forth with each drawing a signal. When I run th switch test, it detects that I have a SW21 switch, however I get the error message that only one satellite is connected (91). I have reversed the connctors on the switch and have received identical results.

Question: When running switch test, does the dish need to be alligned with both sats and receiving a signal for the switch to detect both LNB's? If I remember correctly from my old dish receiver, I thought fine tuning is normally done after the switch test when 2 bars appear and you can adjust for both sats.

Yes,

Both dishes must be algned to receive a decent signal.

Rocco if both satellites aren't being received how do you expect the switch test to see them if all you are receiving is the 91 the switch test is correct that is all the receiver is seeing.

Okay, according to the instructions that I received from BEV, I am suppose to lock on and peak 91 before I go after 82. My strength reading on 91 is 95%. At this point I am suppose to run the switch test. When I run the test, it reads my current switch as an SW21, however, I get the error message that only one satellite is connected.

I have swapped out the coax on 82 with no success. I have swapped LNB's with no success. Any other suggestions???

Is there any trees that could be blocking the signal? You should connect it directly to that lnbf bypassing the switch to see if it comes in then. You may need to run a switch check to see if it is coming in first before the signal screen will indicate a signal correctly.

Rocco did you set the skew on the Dish 500 if the dish is set and aimed correctly when you get 91 you should have both satellites. You may have to do a little tweaking to maximize the signals.
