EchoStar's Ka-band portion of the satellite will be used to deliver future broadband initiatives for the company

Dish Network is gonna offer satellite internet service?

It would seem that way, since a lot of the Capacity they have leased from AMC on the future AMC 15 is, I think, 12 Ka Spotbeams.

Charlie had said a while back that he plans to hopefully provide affordable internet service at under $50 a month.

That was 'a while back'. Soon, we will learn of the additional 9.95 monthly modem rental fee.

<ducking for cover> :D

Hmmm, maybe that would be better than shelling out all that money that they would want to charge for the hardware. I dont see how they could get away with charging for a modem rental and still charge for hardware at the dish but I could still see them charging for installation if they chose not to give that promotion with the broadband by satellite as they do with video by satellite to make up for the outside hardware costs in that way.
