I just saw a promo for Life, starting March 21. Unfortunately, Richard Attenborough is still apparently not good enough for them, and they replaced him on their version with Oprah.

I was considering buying the Blu on Amazon UK, as it is not region locked, but it's still incompatible with my system.

For those of you who have seen Planet Earth on Discovery and the Attenborough version, how bad was the difference? Was a lot chopped up, cut out etc to make room for commercials?

The British versions were about 6 minutes longer. I own the British version, mostly because I prefer Mr. Attenborough.

Tried them both, bought the BBC version.

I'm thinking that I'll watch the Discovery Channel version and if I like it, I will buy the BBC version.

You might be onto something. From reading some reviews in UK, it's not getting as good reviews from an educational aspect as some of the older films. Lots of eye candy and not as much substance it seems.
