I have learned more about switches and LNB's in the last week than I ever thought I would need to know, but I'm afraid it's still inadequate. Here's what I am trying to do:
Replace one of two 301's with a 721.
Hardware I believe I have (not sure of the exact terminology):
One installed dish with dishpro dual LNB.
Hardware I have left over from previous owner of the house:
An extra dish (not installed) with 2 dual Legacy LNB's. Two (SW-21?) switches.
Options I am considering:
Installing the old dish with legacy switches to feed the 721. Leave the current dish to feed the other 301 (with capability to move my current 301 to another room).
Buy Quad LNB and add to current dish.
Install the other dish and buy a single dishpro LNB. Try to pick up 61.5 Buy the corresponding switch (64?) to tie it all together.

I would like to avoid the headaches I have been reading about in different threads, even if it means some extra money. What do you guys suggest?

I would buy the dishpro 3 to 4 switch and a single dishpro LNB. This will give you 4 receiver service at all three slots. Buy the parts on e bay, should be under $150

Do you have a DP TWIN, because a DP Dual is not released yet. If you do have a DP TWIN than your best bet is to get a DP34 switch and DP Single to put up on your extra dish to get 61.5, that way you can be sure that you can upgrade to another DP receiver.

I assumed it was a twin in my suggestion.

Yes, it must be DP twin.
I have noticed Dish 500 vs Dish 300 . . is there a difference in the actual dish? Can I mount the Dish that came with my system purchased in December and use a single DishPro LNB with it to pick up 61.5?
