It is moments such as the updates of the Chile Earthquake on a Saturday night and Sunday morning when CNN Domestic is running garbage reruns in the middle of the night while CNN International has LIVE news ongoing and talk of the Earthquake in Chile.
It is moments such as this.. when CNN International is most valuable.

I put CNN International on FIOS to see their coverage, they had a brief thing, then went to normal programming. Meanwhile Fox News has constant coverage going. I even was surprised to see BBC News had nothing going when I flipped to it on FIOS. So you are not missing much at the moment.

I work with a few people down in Chile - beautiful country, beautiful people (I'm talking about their souls here).
I'd love to have CNNI on all the time, but I'm not sure if CNN allows that in the USA

It was on D*....at least as a part-time channel....it shared with a business news channel that went kaput. For some reason, D* chose not to continue carrying it. As far as I know, CNN has no problems supplying it to D* as it's carried by others here in the US. The main problem seems to be what I've referred to as D*'s apparent aversion to carrying English international news 24/7 channels.

I've been watching 4 different national news networks....CNN is doing a horrible job of covering the Chile and Hawaii situations compared to the rest. Even Fox News (which I don't watch all that much) is doing a better job with their live and other video feeds.

CNN has been carrying local Hawaii reports from both the ABC and Fox affiliates here, while Fox News, just now when I looked, had on a little piece about a killer whale attacking a girl with a ponytail (not in Hawaii or Chile).

Fox has used streaming video from 2 different Hawaii stations all day, along with many local interviews. CNN recycled the same stuff over and over.
I actually had CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News on all at once for about 6 hours today. Honestly - I am not fond of Fox News or most of their staff.
CNN kept replaying the same video from Chile 1000 times over and over, with occasional new footage, and then would jump over to Hawaii for 20 minutes spurts. Only late in the day, did CNN seem to catch up on Hawaii.
I learned more in 30 minutes on what was going on in Hawaii on Fox News or MSNBC that all day on CNN.
I was surprised. I expected CNN to have the best coverage, followed by MSNBC, and then Fox News. It ended up in the reverse order. No wonder CNN's ratings keep dropping.
The best coverage, of course, came from the INTERNET live stream feeds from local Hawaii stations.
