View Full Version : Img Off ?
Why is IMG switched OFF in "Potpourri"? Has someone been indiscreet?

Some of the posts with picture links were messing with the formatting of the forum so the IMG tag was turned off. We have just installed a new "thumbnail" feature so when you attach a picture, a smaller version is displayed in the post along with a link for the larger version. Looks much nicer and will avoid funky looking threads. Most pic extensions work (jpg, gif, png, etc) but BMP's do not work.
You can see what I mean in this thread:

Excellent! :) I like the thumbnails.
Much better than waiting for all those action gecko :raspberry pics to load.
Way to go! :righton:
 You da man!
Now, when are you going to switch [IMG] back on? :scratchin

Now, when are you going to switch [IMG] back on? :scratchinNot anytime soon. I'm trying to figure out a way to keep large hot linked IMG's from screwing up the formatting. Unfortunately, not everyone is as computer literate as you Nick when they post images. :)

I have an idea, we could just turn of bmp as a valid file type so people can no longer upload Bitmaps. That would take care of the formating problem. :)
Or I can go back to resizing oversized images like I have done in the past.
Just two ideas. :D

Yeah, right.
Now, if we can just get the little 'rolleyes' smilie guy's eyes actually rolling again, the few of us who sparingly sprinkle subtle sarcasm in our posts would certainly be overwhelmingly and eternally grateful.

Just two ideas. :DThe fact that they are BMP's isn't the problem, it's the actual pixel size of the pictures. It can be any format. And, if they are hot linked from another web site, we have no control over the size so you can't resize it.

Ahh (stupid Scott :kickbutt: ) I was mis reading thought it had to do with uploading of images not pulling them up remotely.
Scott needs sleep. :D
