After much consideration, it is time for me to drop Dish and go with cable. The reason is Cable One in Boise, ID has all local channels in HD including CW and PBS. Their Ultra Video package (which is 83 dollars a month) has 165 channels including the ones I watch in HD (Speed and my FOX affiliate especially). My DVR and HD fee is included in that price and they give you another box with no fees each month. Plus I will be getting my internet and phone service through them as well.

Total cost including my internet and phone service will be $166 a month.

WHOA. Even around here that's a lot of money with bundling. even with a 722 and a 211k and AT200 I'm not spending 83 bucks a month. If CW and PBS are worth it to you, more power to you, though.

You could say that it is a lot for just internet service, since with internet you can use SkyPE, etc.

I'm glad you said it. I was puzzling over the numbers myself. He wants SPEED, so he has to get AT200. With a 722 and HD with Platinum and a DVR fee, that should be $68.99 or am I missing something? He has room for a couple of premiums or another box. That Ultra Video package must be really something, or like me there's no access high speed internet for under $50 except in a package.

Well lets see he could get the AT 250 which includes some movie channels for $63.99.

HD with Platium for $10

DVR fee for $6

together thats $79.99

around here internet is $48

and he could always get Vonage for $25

so that is around $152 before taxes but he would still come out a few dollars cheaper and I am sure will have more HD channels then cable.

Maybe locals in HD were the most important.

Maybe that is the case, my local CBS,NBC,Fox and ABC are the only locals I have in HD, my local PBS,My Network or CW is not in HD, but that doesnt bother me cause I dont watch those anyhow.

I get all of my locals in HD with a 722 using the OTA receiver. Why do I need them fed to me in a compressed data feed with artifacts and cut outs and such?

Whatever! Do what makes sense to you. Don't let anyone else mislead you towards the truth!

You could say that it is a lot for just internet service, since with internet you can use SkyPE, etc.Skype is a little primitive. Magic Jack is very primitive. You can get full-blown VOIP with tons of features for under $25/month (I pay less than $16) and it doesn't require that your phone traffic be funneled through an always-on computer. My local Comcast is asking $26.95 per month for their service and while a quality connection, it lacks a number of commonly available VOIP features.

My mistake I have AT 250 so I have no idea why I put $63.99 lol oops.

Boise is one of those areas that OTA is easy to get for locals, the RF numbers for the channels make choosing an OTA antenna challenging, as they have Low VHF and UHF.
Getting Locals in HD is important, the price quoted isn't much of deal though. My Dish, ATT DSL, and Vonage service's combined are less, than a cable bundle deal.
