View Full Version : SWM LNB Upgrade Question
I am thinking about upgrading my current Slimline LNB to a SWM LNB. I am seeing a SWM3 with 1 LNB and a SWM5 with 3 LNB's. Will either one work, or is only one of them compatible with mt current mounting arm?
Also, the only other things I would need is the power supply and splitter?

Yes you'll need splitters and a PI.
The 3 or 5 LNB would really depend on whether you need anything off the 119 SAT.
There are a few music channels and [old] SD locals for some markets.
Either one will fit your arm.

I want to get everything I can get, so it does make a difference?

"I think" once D12 lights off, it won't.
110 has a few old HD MPEG-2, which are in MPEG-4 on 99/103.
119 has old local SD spots for some markets, international programing, and a few music channels that don't currently fit on 99/101/103.
I have the 5 LNB, but would be fine with a 3 LNB.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll go with the SWM 5. It's a lot cheaper than going the SWM8 multiswitch route.
By the way, is there a certain model splitter you would recommend?

As long as you have clear LOS to the 119 sat, then having the SL5 will never hurt. But if you don't have LOS to 119, you'd want to stay with the SL3.
