Does a phone line need to be plugged in in order to get the TvMail feature to work?

Definitely not, I don't have any phone lines but still get messages.

Thanks everyone. I haven't gotten any mail since they started that thing. I have had my phone line out and thought maybe that was why.

The TVMail feature just sends global messages via satellite concerning new features or programming. It doesn't send to individuals as the name kinda implies.

Actually it does. I got a message on mine that they received an on line payment that I made. It had the amount and date received.

I don't think I've ever seen that. Interesting, will need to look next time I make a payment.

They do indeed send individual subscriber information, they sent me verification of a package change I made. A phome line is not needed for this feature.
