I agree, but Dave losing was a fluke, which was all part of the game. I can live with it. But there should have been no fluke in the Finals. But I guess if you use internet voting, thats what you get (I could have cheated bigtime for Ralphie...)
Parting Gift..., Dave and Vos are appearing in Atlanta this weekend, Yippee. :icon_da:
But They all are probably going to show up on Comedy Central (Thursday Night on Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, Dave is appearing), and Dave & Ralphie each has to end up with a comedy sitcom within a year or two (if not NBC than the other networks are licking their lips in Anticipation...).

The problem (for the viewers that paid attenion) was that NBC created Dat to be a sympathetic underdog, knowing full well that when they opened this up to public vote, Dat would score big points from this perspective. First episode showed him sleeping under a desk, second episode he cried, then they repeated the crap out of the hide-'n-seek prank (then we find out last night, they felt bad and bought him a gift!), and every week showed the rest of the comics picking on him in one way or another.
Then to top it off, when they showed the highlights of the whole process, Dat DID THE SAME JOKES AGAIN AND AGAIN. Ralphie had a fresh set every time we saw him, same for Voss and Mordal.
Was Sean EVER funny?

Just another example that Reality TV is not "reality"

That is very true...i just assumed that the only thing that mattered was being funny. Granted I did realize that VOS was so abrasive that a TV sitcom might be out of his reach, but within the realm of at least being presentable to an audience, funny was all that mattered.
Actually If I wanted the nicest guy to win than Rob Cantrell should have won (mellow guy, wacky yet not insane, used to be assistant kindergarten teacher, and was moderately funny, etc)
It actually drove me crazy when Dat kept on mentioning how you have to "have a good soul" to be a good commedian (Zen and the Art of Standup Comedy???). I think a good commedian has to have a bit of a dark streak and be a bit of an outsider (an outsider tends to observe things differently than what is seen by the masses). In that the King and the Queen of the Prom would probably not be good comedians. The guy in the AV or Chess club or the girl who dresses in all black or who is in every play but isn't ever pretty enough to be the lead, etc would have the makings of a good commedian.

My Comedy Central "Collin Quinn's: Tough Crowd" alert was an understatement...
Thursday Night, Dave Mordal & Rich Vos & Corey Kahaney & Rob Cantrell.
Dat's appearance on Jay Leno last night proved Randy's point perfectly. Dat told all the same jokes he's told on the show - the intro where he acts like he doesn't speak English, the pedicures joke, and the one about people making up words while passing him on the street. I turned it off after it was apparent that he was just recycling the same old material, but then went back afterwards just to make sure.
My favorite was Tess, and she was the first eliminated Tuesday night. A close second was Ralphie, and he generated the biggest response from the crowd of any of them. The other three were distantly behind him. At this point, I'm just tired of Dat's material, and his performance last week was certainly not worthy of winning the contest.

I saw Dave Mordal and Rich Vos at a comedy club tonight.
Dave Mordal kicked a*s for around 45 minutes, really great set but definately rated R.
Rich Vos also did a really good 45 min set (but Dave was still better) and was also rated R.
Couple of jabs at Dat Pham by Dave and Rich and even the Audience.
Would have enjoyed just them talking about the whole Last Standing house and such. Ralphie May is supposed to be appearing there in a few months... That will be cool...

I enjoyed Dave the most. He has a way of telling a story and adding a little twist.
Vos is "on" all the time but being funniest in the house doesn't necessarily translate into the best stand-up routine.
Of the final 5, I predicted Tess would win. I gotta get out of the prediction business!
Corey gave a good performance. Seems the audience just didn't go for the wimmins.
Ralphie really impressed me with the depth of his material, not relying on the same routines or even topics. Ralphie! Ralphie! "Did you have to pan?"
Dat gives good performances and has good material but really needs more of it. For my viewing time, his 1 joke didn't have enough steam to last to the end of the series.
