Does a Tivo allow one to record out and onto a VCR tape? I really like the idea of the digital access and what not, but if I can't save movies and the like for later viewing, it looses some of its appeal. It would be really cool if you could video out to my pc and record a VCD or DVD.... I wish I could afford a TIVO with a humongous hard drive, but....
About to sign up for DTV and see a Tivo as an option...
Thanks.

If your TV can see it, your VCR can record it. Just hook up your VCR between the TIVO and the TV and bingo! Just play back the recording on the TIVO and push record on your VCR (or PC).

Thanks for the help. I had heard something about the movie industry worried about folks copyin their copywrited movies....maybe that was a HDTV issue?

Can Tivo also work in conjunction with a DVDR? Just trying to look for all the angles so I won't have buyers remorse....too quickly! Thanks for your insight!

The copywrite issue is with HDTV. I believe that there is going to be a new TIVO coming out that has a DVDR in it sometime in the fall. You may want to wait for that. :)

The Sony SAT-60 DirecTivo has a Save to VCR option where it can control a sony vcr via the IR blaster.
