I was over at AVS Forum and I read about a promotion that HBO is running for $10 off a year, bringing it to $5 a month to new subscribers. A poster there told me that he called D* and they told him the promo was from your ISP. They gave him the discount, he said he has FiOS. I was going to call them and find out, my ISP is RR. I only want HBO for the new mini-series The Pacific which starts this Sunday.

Interesting. I was going to call this weekend to see about any deals myself. Unfortunately my ISP is Zoomtown, which is only in the Cincinnati area. If I were able to get this deal, this would solve the issue of both Pacific and True Blood. I'm not interested in the movies, just the shows.

I called D* today and told them that I had seen a deal that some of my "friends" got for HBO for $10 off/ month for 12 months. She put me on hold and came back a couple minutes later and said she didn't show that promotion but she would add HBO at full price and then give me $10/ month off of my base package for 12 months. Sounded good to me.

Called and my best deal was HBO + Cinemax for $14.99 for 3 months. Looks like I'll be waiting for the Blu-ray release of The Pacific.

I, too, called today and asked what kind of deals they had for HBO. First he said HBO for $15 and Cinemax free for 3 months.

I said, do you have any other specials

He came back and asked if I had High speed internet. I said yes. He said we have a promotion for anyone with high speed internet for HBO and get $10 off per month for a year. And I can give you the 3 months Cinemax too.

Then he said, wait, I found an even better deal. HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz for $22 per month for 2 months and $10 off for a year. So, I'm basically getting all the premiums for $12 for the next 3 months and then HBO for 9 months after that for $5.

Couldn't pass it up.

My cycle ends the 8th of every month and the charges and credits for the next month have already been posted. $9.50 total for the rest of the month. WooHoo.

I started the Starz/Sho 2/1 for 3 months deal last month. Don't forget you can get a $25 refund from Starz!: http://starzoffers.com/coupons/0112.html for subbing for 2 months.

I declined them bundling Cinemax with HBO for free for 3 months.

Psyched for The Pacific tonight!

Who has had success adding HBO for $5 per month? I am not having any luck on my end right now.

Who has had success adding HBO for $5 per month? I am not having any luck on my end right now.It seems to be semantics. It's really a $10 off your bill promo for 12 months for having high speed internet with their participating ISPs. HBO is just their "incentive", as the CSR put it.

How do you know who their participating ISPs are?

I got the same all movie channels for $22 offer, but when they did that, somehow the turned off my sports pak. When I called back to get the sports pak reenabled (it was free for 6 months, of which 4 months had passed), the CSR switched me to PREMIER instead. When I found out that my bill suddenly went up $50 a month, I called back to complain, and they switched me back to Choice Ultimate, but couldnt even add HBO back, since the computer considered it a downgrade.

It took me two more calls, before they were finally able to add HBO/Cinemax for $15 bucks, and sports pak back on my account. I ended up losing the last two months of the free sports pak in the process. I just gave up. It was totally not worth all that hassle to save $5.

How do you know who their participating ISPs are?Evidently Verizon is one of them. You have to ask them about it. Good luck.

The CSR, I spoke with, didn't even ask me who I had. Just asked if I had hi-speed internet. When I asked him about it, he said it didn't matter who the provider is.

It's amazing the varied responses people get from the CSRs. I was on hold for about 15 minutes and the person I spoke with said she couldn't find the offer. I was finally offered starz for 7.99 a month for 3 months as the best deal. With the mail in rebate from starz though the 3 months end up being free so I had to take the deal.

I called again and still no luck. I may break down and just get it and cancel when The Pacific is over. I really want to see this show.

I added the 2-for-1 deal a couple weeks ago and forgot all about the rebate. Thanks for the reminder.

I called & the only thing they offered me was a 2-for-1 special for HBO & SKINamax for $14.99/month for 3 months, then it goes back to the $26/month, at which time I'll cancel. Pacific/True Blood being the catalyst for us to sign-up.
