My system was fixed yesterday and I will be keeping my directv...... I'm still upset over one of the locals but I guess I will live with it...... The channel is dark and too much color or something like that..... But overall, I'm happy with the system.....

I'm puzzled that directv made no announcements on my local channels...... What was up with that????

One thing about Dish if you e-mail them at dishquality@echostar.com they will work with you to fix any stations you see on your locals package. I have worked with them on Houston locals and got them up to good quality. Now I "moved " I am working with them to fix the Little Rock locals.

I received many phone calls from their engineering department and they worked with me at their uplink center to fix any problems that I identified to them. This usually takes about a week in e-mails and some calls from them. But it shows Dish 's commitment to their customers and to the quality of their service. They even adjusted volume controls on the upn station while I was on the phone with them. This is really a excellent way to keep their customers when you consider out of almost 9 million customers they take the time to work with 1 customer out of those 9 million to fix problems on locals .

Have you tried to call Directv and ask to talk to anyone in their engineering department or their tech department? Never hurts to ask.

You could probably call the actual TV station. One of my locals on D* had a bad audio hum at first, so I got in touch with the station engineer. It was fixed in a few days.

Actually Dish works with the stations to fix problems and even send field engineers out to the station at times to fix problems with equipment etc. The way Kip Wilcoxson, the assistant manager if the engineering department, told me is that often the tv local stations will change the output of their signal at different times ,which will reduce the sharpness and the color saturation of the picture. His job is to call and tell these stations to put it back where it belongs so the picture remains good. That is if someone e-mail or calls him with the problems that they see on screen. He said it is hard to keep up with all the local channels when they keep adding more and more. That's why he relies on customers to email anything they see that they don't like. One thing he did say is that he thinks that Dish will have all the locals for the country done in another 2 years. :D
