I have had Dish Network for about four years now. I love the service for the most part, but if I decided to change over to Direct TV (mainly for NFL Ticket & and upgrade in newer boxes) what would be the major difference on how the dish gets pointed to the new location (Direct TV) as opposed to the Dish location? I'm getting a clean signal now with dish, but I am surrounded by trees which would change my plans if there is a major difference on how it's pointed. Thanks.

In Michigan, you would need to stand behind the dish, and move it upwards, and left.

Directv uses 119 & 110 for a few of their channels, the same locations as DISH most of their broadcast come from 101. You will be looking about 9 degrees left of your current dish pointing for 101.

Thanks for the info guys! I finally went through and did it. I now have a Direct Tivo to replace my old Philips Tivo and a new box upstairs. I had to end up cutting down a tree to get it, but it was well worth it. :D One more question, how can I go about selling off my old equipment on Ebay? I'm assuming I will need to sell the smart cards with the two Dish boxes. (3900, 2800) I already called Dish to cancel my programming, what else do I need to do?

Bill...you've already cancelled the programming. Next, call Dish back and "release" the receivers. Use that EXACT word. When you "release" the receivers from your account, then whoever buys them can activate them oln their own account. Yes, the cards stay with the receivers.

I got the NFL Ticket package. You pay four monthly payments of $55 or $56.00 for the Ticket and you get the Total Choice Premiere package for four months free. I only paid $99.00 for the Direct Tivo and another box with free install. I simply couldn't pass up on that deal.

Yes I plan on selling it. I already have someone at work who is somewhat interested. I will keep you posted if that falls through.
