My 2800 received a new upgrade Tuesday. Local channel mapping is back! :D
I hope this version is more stable than the last attempt.
Looks like they are back to 7.67 again I also hope it is debugged.
Gee, I wonder if I have the new 7.67 or the old 7.67? :)

Well, looks like another "new" feature has been added. There is now a channel 0, and going to it gives you a switch error. The only way that I was able to get out of it was to yank the smart card.
Does Dish test their software before releasing, or are we just their Beta testers? Alpha is greek for doesn't work. Beta is greek for still doesn't work. The previous attempt at 7.67 made the receiver intermittently lock up. My 2800 has worked flawlessly for 2.5 years until these latest rounds of "upgrades."
Local channel mapping is nice, but I don't want it if it is going to be this much of a hassle.

As of this morning, I no longer have access to channel 0, so maybe this problem has been fixed.
Also, if you do not have a 61.5/148 dish, you no longer see the side slot locals when using the channel up/down buttons. You have to either enter the channel number directly or access it through the guide. I think this is different from before.

You should still see the listings for the side-slot locals in the guide even without the second dish. When channel surfing you won't flip through them though. I think this is a good thing! :)
As much as I would like to get the second dish the WAF is very low. Unfortunately the only side-slot channels I would like to watch I can't get OTA. :(
And if you do get stuck on channel "0" the easiest way to get out of it is to press the menu button, then select guide and choose another channel.
