Nahh.. he won't be back. He's busy posting links over the internet to drive inbound traffic to his website. In the past 1 day he's joined and posted on the at least 2 other sites I frequent and has not been back to participate. Spammer.

Is it me or does it make no sense advertising Directv contract promos on a site where the vast majority of people already have Directv (or DISH)?

Spammers don't make sense. Just like the scammer on craigslist that though I would ship a large 300+ pound (probably) CRT TV to Nigeria. Just don't make no sense.

The reason for it is search engine optimization (SEO). Spammers know that placement in google, yahoo, etc is increased greatly by how many "quality" sites link to your site. When the search engine bots "crawl" other websites and see links to your website it helps you get higher placement in the engine during searches, say for example for a search like "DirecTV service". So what they do is seek out high traffic sites and create links back to their websites on them. The OP had is link in his signature (which was removed by the mods) but he also still has a link in his profile contact info so he's accomplished his task.
Spamming forums with their website links is one of many common tactics for spammers and/or scammers use to try to drive traffic to their website(s).
