Activating/Deactivating receiver

So we have 3 receivers right now in the house, but only one is really being used. The others are used maybe once or twice a year when we (the kids) go to visit.

My question is, can the extra receivers be turned off and be turned back on only for the time we are home?

If you actually own the receivers, that shouldn't be a problem. If those receivers are leased, you are required to return them to DirecTV when you deactivate them.

If you look at your bill and the $5.00 charge associated with those card numbers reads "Addition Receiver", that means they're owned. If the charge indicates "Leased Receiver", obviously then they are leased and can't be turned on and off as you'd like.

Yea they're all leased and that sucks.
