DIRECTVPC install question......

Might be a dumb question. But. During install towards the start. When it asks for Serial. Do you put the key in that was emailed to us? Or the actual serial number on the box? Is there a way to get the number through the guide? I have it tucked in. So kinda hard to get in the back to write the numbers down.
