View Full Version : Turning In Secondary Receiver

I decided to turn in my secondary 322 receiver about a month ago due to the obscene rate increase from $5 to $14. Even with all of the "credits" given by Dish, I was still paying over $10 more than I was before the increase. I rarely used the receiver and just kept it around as a backup in case my 722 ever failed. I just couldn't see paying that much more for an SD receiver that I rarely used. What's interesting is that I just got my latest statement showing the credit for turning in the receiver, but they still haven't sent me a box to return the receiver to them. How long should it take to get the box, and If I don't return the receiver, will they charge me for it?

Since I appear to be the only one here who has ever turned in a secondary receiver, I decided to call Dish customer service and ask why I hadn't been sent a box to return it to them. I was told that they were still processing my return and they should have a box sent out by Monday. I asked why it was taking so long to get a box and was told that they were processing a lot of returns and since I wasn't exchanging my receiver for another, I was low priority. Since I already got credit for returning the receiver, I really don't care if i'm low priority. The fact that they are processing a lot of returns tells me that I am not the only one that didn't appreciate the price increase. I think that Dish has really shot themselves in the foot with this increase and whoever thought of it should be fired.

It was probably Charlie the accoutant as convoluted as it ends up. It is hard to fire the CEO.

I'm one who is thinking about reducing the number of receivers I have. Currently it is
1-722
2-622s (one owned and the other questionable)
2 211s.
I really don't need the 211s anymore but liked to have one in the garage for those occasions when I was puttering around out there.
The questionable 622 was a replacement for the purchased 921 at almost a grand and I'm not sure if it is really a lease or really mine. I need to ask Dish of course but who knows what crazy answer I will get.
If it is leased I will return it and then get a 612 to replace it. If owned, I'll remove it from service and either lease or buy a 612.
I'm tired of paying $125 a month for TV.:(

While your return box is a *relatively* low priority, it normally takes no more than 2 business days to ship them out (and a couple more to receive it). Whoever gave you that story was just trying to cover for the box not being shipped, but there isn't some huge backlog.
Dish has *always* had to process large numbers of returns, due to upgrades and swapouts, and there's nothing new that's making things extra busy.

They just sent out the return box today. I probably should have said in my original post that I called to return the receiver on February 22nd. It took them 28 days or 20 business days process the return and send a box. If it normally only takes a couple of days, then it would seem there are more returns than usual.

BZ, I know you are an installer but, do you have some inside infomation proving that E* has not seen an increase in returns since the price increase?

When I had to return one of my receivers after purchasing my own, I had to call twice before the box finally showed up.
