We're getting ready to move as soon as our house sells and we find a new one. The question I have is we are attempting to save some $$$ and cut down the bills to help us save.

If I totally cancel my service can I still access the shows on my unit. I think I know your probably going to say no, but thought I'd ask.

Has anyone every just paid $5 for locals and that's it? I could drop the package until we get moved and ready to add HD back.

No, you will not be able to access your recordings if you cancel your service, and no, you can't just subscribe to locals. You must, at minimum, subscribe to Family or Select, and if you have HD and/or a DVR, you will pay those fees as well.

What you *can* do is *suspend* your service, once per 12 month period, and for a duration of between 30 days and 6 months. You must have your account paid to current in order to suspend, and obviously you won't have any programming during the suspension, but no bill either. Time on suspension does *not* count towards your commitment, so if you had, say, 9 months left before you suspended, you'll still have 9 months when you reactivate.

I'm guessing during this suspension period you wouldn't be able to access recordings.

Nope. No service.
