I find it strange that the Sponsors for the DIshnetwork HD Truck all have there paid logos on the truck and they do not currently offer any HD. They must be planning it soon.

Maybe some of these will be in the new HD Package. Maybe some will not be real HD but in an Enhanced TV mode or Dolby 5.1 or something.

Sci Fi and USA in a near HD or Enhanced TV mode would be great.

Here is the link to the DIshnetwork web site.

If the link does not work go to Dishnetwork.com c lick on programming and then HD. On the left hand side is the HDTV Truck tour info.

So what will the weather channel in hdtv have that the weather channel in current form doesn't? Will this enable dish and directv to offer local on the 8's eventually. That is my biggest pet peeve with satellite is there is no local on the 8's on satellite.

The HDTV Truck Tour is a 53-foot long semi-trailer that contains product demonstrations, live HD programming feeds, and all of the “how to” information you need to live life in high definition.

I SO wish I could go to the LA County Fair this year. Hopefully that truck will make its way east.

I go to channel 9500 and it gives me local forcast and current local weather info.

The truck was at Wal-Mart here in LR about a month ago. I saw it on the way to work but was not able to stop by.

Oh man, I would have driven down the mountain to see that.

But Dish Network is 100% Digital, so its all HD! ;)

I bet the truck just runs the Dish HD Demo channel and everyone drools over that for the 10mins they are allowed in the truck.

There was a time that a Sci-Fi HD channel would excite me. Seeing John Edwards in HD doesn't excite me. :)

I was already planning on going to the LA County Fair this year, now I really have a reason to go!

Does anyone have any specific questions they would like me to ask? I will see about posting some pictures if anyone is interested...

Z'Loth will probably get to see it before I do up in Sacramento though.

One of the logos they have at the top of the HDTV truck announcement is "The Weather Channel". In HD? Maybe they can get it in 3D too while they're at it.

nah i'd still like local on the 8's on satellite first. That'd really make me think of getting a hdtv.

USA Networks has done HDTV before. I bet they are ready for more. Thus a new USA Networks Enhanced or HDTV channel.

Here is the link to the news article.

Maybe you will be able to see the ghosts on HDTV? They are just too faint to appear in the normally overcompressed signal that is standard now.

The USA thing is interesting as I just watched the season premier of The Dead Zone and it was letterbox. I'm pretty sure it was not last year. It certainly does not mean it is definitely mastered in HD but a little fuel for the fire.

USA Network didn't really do HDTV. CBS already had the HD camera crews set up to cover the masters, and USA Network just rebadged the CBS production and made it avaiable to MSOs.

One thing a package like this reminds me of is the dish pick they had a while back when you could choose 10 channels for $10 in which raised to $15 later. One could probably get this package as a smaller basic one without getting top 50 but be charged the additional $5 fee.

If someone has the money for the HD television, the HD receiver, and so forth then they would probably get more than that package.
