My 3rd replacement 722 has worked well for the few weeks it's been installed except for the last several days when it frequently looses signal. My 622 on the same antenna/switch works just fine on the same channels the 722 looses.
I've rebooted, run the check switch routine and everything looks ok. Signal strength on the three satellites runs from 52 to 75 - all in the green.
Dealing with tech support for the prior two 722 replacements was less than a pleasant experience.
Any suggestions or ideas would sure be welcomed.
Cable/diplexer issues maybe?

I finally phoned tech support and got nice enough people at both first and 2nd level. Each wanted multiple cold boots. The first few failed and then the "3rd one was a charm." Left that session with advice to phone advanced support (phone number provided) should it happen again. The next night it did and I dutifully called the advanced tech.
He determined a service call was in order at a price of $95, but of course that could be reduced if I agreed to a service contract of $6 monthly. My common sense said it's their equipment - all of it and I pay over $115 a month to use it; therefore why should I have to pay to continue their revenue stream. Well, wink wink one can cancel the service agreement, but at a penalty for early termination. Not acceptable. After being one of their "preferred" customers for ten years, logic would hold they'd like to keep me, especially in the shadow of their very real and expense problems with Tivo.
None of that is in their business plan I guess. We left it with their still offering the discounted service call and my saying I'd see how well the system runs before I decide to have them send boxes for me to return all three receivers. My mailbox is stuffed on a daily basis with DirectTV and Uverse propaganda, but I don't want to bite off my nose to spite my face.
Sorry for the rant but it seems like a strange way for them to do business. And, I feel better already :). Any other experiences and/or thought would be welcome.

My system consists of: Sony tv - kdl-40v5100, Sony blu ray player, VIP722, and Onkyo Ht-s5200 home theater. HDMI from the vip722 to the tv with optical cable to onkyo for audio, HDMI from the blu ray to tv with optical for the audio.
My problem: audio drops. If I run the audio through the tv direct from the vip722 the audio would have glitches, through the Onkyo the audio would actually drop for a second then come back. This audio problem was not network specific. This was not a problem with my tv. This was not a problem with my Onkyo. The problem is / was with my VIP722. I had to get three different VIP722 to get a good one. Now my audio seems fine so far. If that changes I will let you know. Wanted to let you all know that dish will send out these reconditioned VIP722's and it may take a while to get a good one so be persistant with dish. I had two older VIP722's, the ones with OTA antenna connection, this newer VIP722 does not have the OTA antenna connection. Is that the VIP722K then? Anyway, if you have the same problem, don't give up. Keep on dish network to get you a good receiver/dvr! It took me 2 months of hell to get my problem resolved..
I do carry the insurance to cover repairs but I still had to pay a 15 dollar co-pay thingy!!
