View Full Version : Is This the way Scheduler is Supposed to Work?

Or, in other words, where exactly does this fall down?

Tonight at 4:00 is the last Isles v. Rangers game for the season. I had set my HR21 to record both 774-1 and 775-1 to try to get the Isles feed of the game. By last night, it had dropped 774-1 from the ToDo list, and while it still had 775-1 set to record, the guide had dropped both 774-1 and 775-1, leaving only 775 as Isles v. Rangers, and it wasn't planning to record that one.

I jumped to my DirecTV app on my Pre, and both the 774-1 and 775-1 programs were listed as Islanders v. Rangers. I selected the 774-1 one to record (my ToDo list still had the 775-1 one scheduled to record even though that one had dropped out of the guide).

Uopn checking this morning, 774-1 and 775-1 showings were both back, but the 774-1 recording I had remotely scheduled did not set.

So, did the remote recording request fail because the HR21 guide data was screwed up? If so, how do I prevent this from happening again in the future? If not, where did the process likely fail?

Easy solution...record off the RSN channel.

Easy if I lived in NY, but I live in NV, so the RSN isn't available to me. That method stopped working years ago.

No it didn't. I always watch the RSNs...they open them during games when you sub to that package. I'm in TX & watch the Red Wings on FSN-D, Yankees on YES, etc.

I tried that for an Islanders game back in December (not on purpose, autorecord decided to grab the game on 635 rather than the showing on 775) but when I tried to play it back, I got the "searching for authorized content" message. Unfortunately, here on the west coast, by the time I find out that the game wasn't actually available on the channel I selected, the game is already over, so I can't change the channel. That's why I don't risk it with setting the recording for MSG+.

Neverthless, it doesn't answer the main concern here. What I am really trying to find out is, if the guide info at my HR20 or 21 is screwed up or incomplete and I set a remote recording from my phone, will it just ignore the remote recording setting because it doesn't agree with the guide info?
