I just recently purchased a couple of Hughes HBH-SA receivers. My friend has one and I just thought they were great. After hooking them up I am not sure. The audio has frequent misses almost like a CD skipping. It usually is only a split second. I now have found out that my friend's does it as well. Is this a problem with this model receiver or is D* having a problem with their audio feed? I posted this message on dbsforums and someone else responded that their HBH-SA was doing this as well. Please help, because if this is a problem with only this receiver, I am taking it back and getting something else. If it is a D* problem then so be it. Thanks.

Stevie, I haven't noticed it on my Tivo's or my HBH-SA. I'll keep a sharper eye on the H. I've sold about 50 or so, and had no complaints as of yet.

Is the problem happening on all channels, or just a couple? Are both of your receivers doing the same? Is it strictly audio, no video problem?

I appreciate the info. I like to keep up with any problems people note, so I can be ready if one of my customers call. If I see or hear anything, I'll post here as well.

It appears to be happening on all channels periodically. You may go two hours with no problems and then all of a sudden you will hear a split second "miss" in the audio. It is almost like the receiver is failing to decode the audio for a split second. There are never any video issues at all. One theory I had is that b/c D* is compressing the heck out of everything that maybe any change in the audio quality is causing the receiver to fail to decode for a second. I know my friend's is doing it and another person over on dbsforums says his is doing it as well. If anybody was watching Jerry McGuire on TNT last night at around 10:00 P.M. mine was having frequent audio problems during that movie. As for my other receiver, I haven't had a chance to watch it enough to know whether it is doing it or not. I really like the features of this receiver but if this problem persists and it is not on D*'s end, then I will have to take these back and try something else.

I have seen this as well on my Hughes receivers. Seems to be only on TNT for me though.

I find it goes out alot when I listen to shows in 5.1 sound. Showtime had a lot of problems with its HD broadcast of Boxing last Saturday. Drop outs you name it. Starting to think maybe time to switch to the Large dish. Haven't been happy with Directv since they really started to compress its signal.

SO far, no problems with my HBH-SA, and no trouble calls from any customers.

That sounds similar to the sound dropouts we're having with the HDVR2's. They say there is a software fix coming out next month. I don't know anything about the HBA-SA though.

I spoke too soon. Still no problems on the HBH-SA, but I did see the audio breaks on my TiVo last night on one of the Encore channels.

I asked my distributor about any reports they're receiving, but none to date.

Incidently, I gave my rep this forum address and told her she needed to surf here every day. She'll learn more from the crew here than DTV will ever tell them!

I have a PVR-501 and I've been noticing the drops for months now. Not sure if they're on all channels or just where I've noticed them the most (HBO channels). At first I thought I might be having hard drive problems in the PVR, but now that I've seen posts from other people and various models of receivers, I'm wondering. If it really were a system problem, however, I can't believe Dish wouldn't have it resolved after all these months.

The problem is there, but sporadic and on many, if not all, of the audio channels. I noticed it pretty bad yesterday, with one song having three or four of those hiccups. I wonder if they use MP3's instead of pulling from CDs. I start to think that may be the case. The computers may be getting bogged down at times and cause the problem.

By the way, I notice it primarily on my HBH-SA receiver.

I don't think this is a recent problem, my first receiver (an RCA) did this 8 years ago. When I got a Hughes GAEBOA last year it went away. I just got a Samsung too, still no dropouts; HBO sounds great through my surround system.
