View Full Version : Hughes v. Samsung
Just wandering, when it comes to standard definition D* receivers (multi-sat capable), which brand do you prefer Hughes or Samsung? Specifically I am referring to the HBH-SA by Hughes and the SIR 300 Samsung receiver. I just purchased two HBH-SA receivers and I am not happy with the audio at all. Every so often there appears to be a "miss" in the audio almost like a CD skipping. Its annoying. I am thinking of taking them back and going with the Samsung model listed above. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

With my D* installation, I was provided with two Samsung Sir-S300 receivers. They are very nice, no problem with either the picture or sound. Hughes has had a good reputation with receivers, in the past they have pretty much been bullet proof. I would be surprised if they were different now. The Hughes receiver does have turbo tune, which I consider a very nice feature, if you have certain channels that you watch more frequently, it makes it quicker to access them.
Was your installation done by an installer or did you self install the receivers. You might get in touch with the dealer and have the receivers and installation checked, the problem may not be with the receivers.
