Sometimes, I will be looking days ahead in the guide, and then suddenly, all the listings will be "Info Not Available", and there are no listings at ALL except for the first few hours of each channel. This is excrutiatingly annoying and the only way to fix it quickly is to reset the receiver by holding down the power button on the front. Is this a known bug in the software?

Happens occasionally to me, but I do not have to reset. I will just wait a short time and will be able to access the guide.
Happened to me first time today.

Has happened on my 508 at least 4 times in the past month or two.
One thing to remember is that the EEPG comes from the 110 satellite, transponder 29. Make sure that you are getting a good signal on that transponder.
This could be an Echostar problem like the one us 721 owners went through several months ago. They changed someting in the datastream and we didn't get a guide for a few days.

The 501/508 guide reloads when the receiver is turned off. This started after one of the latest software downloads. Hopefully E* will fix this soon. If you do not turn it off for a few days it will show "info not available". Just turn it off for about fifteen minutes every two or three days.

Transponder 29 on 110 is, as I recall correctly, is on one of the older birds instead E*8. When high winds knocked my Dish slightly out of alignment, I was able to get all of E*8 programming from 110 (minus a channel or two, since the rest was PPV or shopping channel). The 50X kept trying to load the guide and failing, and didn't fall back to the 44 hour guide.
