I guess it's just how the stupid blackout rules work for MLB but maybe someone can shed some light. I'm in zipcode 17362 and have Choice Xtra package and also subscribe to NHL Center Ice.

When the Penguins are on I can watch them on 659 FSN Pitt because the RSNs are opened when NHL games are being shown.

Why when I switch to 659 FSN Pitt right now I get a 721 error message for the Pirates game? Isn't it a free week for MLB Extra Innings and shouldn't 659 be unlocked for MLB like it is for NHL? I can watch YES, NESN, etc and I can also watch all the baseball games in the 720-730 range except 731 and 732.

So this means I could pay $199 for MLB Extra Innings and still have to purchase the Sports Pack to watch the Pirates? That makes zero sense to me.

I just turnt it over to the pirates game, and Im watching the game fine. I live in Atlanta, though. I subscribe or have the sports pack, also. So, I don't know whats going on with yours. Its free trial for MLB Extra Innings rite?

Yeah, free trial which is why I can watch all the other games. It's just crazy that I could purchase MLB Extra Innings and still not get all the teams that are shown full time on Direct TV (I know I wouldn't get the Phillies because Direct TV doesn't show CSN Philly).

Are they, by chance, on a local station?

Nope, I get MASN, MASN 2, and CSN Washington for my 'local' RSNs as they are included in my channel package.

I think the whole thing is I also need to have Sports Pack to see the Pirates because I would get them with only the Sports Pack (wouldn't need to purchase Extra Innings). My main question is why can I get the Penguins with only NHL Center Ice but if I only have MLB Extra Innings I can't get the Pirates.

MLB and NHL have different coverage/home team territories, the MLBs are the worst

Just seems nuts that if I pay $199 for MLB Extra Innings I still need to pay another $12.99 per month for the Pirates, and they ain't worth it....LOL

Yes, according to the DirecTV webpage, you need the Sports Pack to get the Pirates. But you also need it for the Penquins. I guess Center Ice opens up Sports Pack customers and EI doesn't?

BTW, if you are getting either to see the Pittsburgh teams, you can save all that money and replace it with Sports Pack in the future.

Maybe you can play CSR roulette and find one that can give you the Sports Pack free since you have Center Ice and Extra Innings.
