What happens when I disconnect my "purchased" DVR? Will I still be able to watch the shows that have been recorded?

Thanks,
John

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong... but I believe in the short-term the answer is yes... but I think eventually if the receiver hasn't been connected to SATs it will deactivate itself and no longer let you watch recordings.

You can test the short-term now, by disconnecting your receiver from satellites and trying to playback recordings.

I can watch recorded shows on 50x DVRs that have been deactivated from the account for years. Same for a deactivated 942. My 622 has only been deactivated since 9-Mar this time but I've watched recorded events on it after it has been off the account for a couple of months. It is much more convenient when it is still CONNECTED to the sat dish - even if the receiver isn't on the account. Without a dish connection, you usually need to hit Menu before the DVR button on the remote before it will work.

That only applies to recordings on the INTERNAL drive. If the receiver is removed from the account, you'd have trouble playing recordings on (or transferring to) an EXTERNAL drive without at least connecting a 622/722 to a sat dish first. That COULD work for external recordings for a month (some unknown short time period - there is something that does "time out") - never tried.

If the receiver is a 211 with an external to make it into a "DVR", I've no idea if my experiences would have any similarity to your results.

You PROBABLY will be able to watch your recordings. All I can say for certain is that I've never been unable to watch mine after a receiver is taken off the account.
