hopefully, but we have all learned to take Charlie's dates with a grain of salt.

Yeah and last month it was promised for the end of August by the tech geeks on tech chat and NOW it 's promised for October. Does anybody remember when Scott said in FEBRUARY that the update was coming like in March? This better be one hell of an update if it takes over 8 months to beta test this bugger of a software!! Oh yeah ,and still no internet as promised when I bought it.

I think the update promised for August for the 721 is another update which has been in waiting for several months and does not include DISH Home...
I would imagine that they would wait a bit after releasing the August software before adding anything new to it... So, October we can expect another release.

I do not see the OpenTV upgrade being available by October (more likely by the end of the year)
Dish Network's 721 Beta program is VERY thorough. As you know I have been testing the software which is supposed to come out at the end of the month since February.
I would believe that the OpenTV wrapper for Linux would also require lots of testing and thus an October release date would be unobtainable.
I wish they showed who gave the October date last night.

Maybe Charlie wasn't joking, maybe it is October 2004.

Yeah their beta testing is usually done on the unsuspecting customers who buy the receiver thinking they got what they paid for. Can you say Dishplayer?

If the Beta Software on the 721 is so good then how come has it not been released? I know the planned to delay it until the additional SuperDish slot can be tested with the software but they still could have released the software then tested it in another Beta version. What is the big deal with the Dish Home/OpenTv on the 721? How big of a problem could it be to get it on that receiver? Wouldn't it be a bummer if the 921 did not get released with Dish Home/OpenTv either with how much it is going to cost and with the additional DVR fees?
