first let thank everyone that responded to my previous questions, being a novice at home networking and i can use all the help i can get. i was think about going powerline first to connect my hr22-100 to the internet for dod but, then was told i would not be able to access any files on my desktop. so now, i'm thinking wireless (cat 5 cable is not feasible at this time) and hoping i can use my existing equipment. i have a netgear wnr wireless-n router hooked up to the internet and my computer and i have a netgear wn111 rangemax-n usb adapter had i use with my laptop. could i use the netgear wn111 rangemax-n adapter and plug it into the hr22-100. that way i could access the internet for dod and access my music, photo, and home video fils on my desktop. is this possible? i was told that since i only about 40 feet and one drywall wall from the receiver i should not have a problem and if i got interference from my neighbors wireless i could change channels.
thanks in advance for and help i get.

usb adapters do not work, you would at minimum a gaming adapter that plugs into the ethernet jack on the back. They are only net-workable through the ethernet jacks, not by usb.

You can buy easily configurable Ethernet Adapters from your DirecTV.com account. The Linksys WGA600N and WET610N are recommended because you can configure them directly from the DVR's menus. You'll find a "First Look" thread about them here somewhere.
