Last night Giants vs Pitt game in HD on 737-1 (725-750 is the mlbei channels, -1 is HD) only had the Directv logo displayed on the screen (no game). I called CS and they escalated it, 15 min later the game was on 737-1. (there was no 721 message, the game was going on, i am not in a blackout area for either team, and I am an mlbei customer). While that was going on I tuned to the RSN (FSN Pitt, CSN bay area) and watched the game with no issues.
Today, same thing, Giants vs Pitt on channels: 730, 730-1 & 731 at the start of the game had the directv logo only (no game, no 721 message). I tuned to the RSN (FSN Pitt, CSN bay area) and both games were on and I was able to watch the game (although channels grayed out in the guide). I twitter'ed the issue, they escalated it and 20 min later the game was on.
I contacted Ellen Filipiak's office, but they seem as clueless as regular CS people. A rep in Ellen's office spoke with the engineering department who responded with it's an issue with my equipment. I have a slimline 5 and HR20-700 with no signal issues, no other issues, and I receive the game just fine on the RSN.
Its obvious (to me) that the issue is on D* end because as soon as it gets escalated it's fixed in 30 min or less without me doing anything to my equipment. I used twitter today to verify it's not an issue with my account (twitter doesn't have any of my D* account info).
It's a real pain because I dvr most games. In last nights example I had a recording with only a directv logo for the first 4 innings until I got home, tuned to the RSN, and called. Today I worked from home and saw what was going on from the start.
Does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone know who I can contact that might be able to fix the issue. Everyone I talk to on D* side never seems to trace the escalation and find the fix. I am really at the end of my rope with this.
Can any mods or CE people provide me with an answer, a fix, or a contact?
Thanks

Advice: Record off the RSN.

Advice: Record off the RSN.
RSN: that's what I was doing last year, I just forgot. Last night was the first issue.
That brings me to my next issue. D* does not carry every Giants HD game on CSN bay area (although every game is avial in HD). I would rather watch HD than SD home feed, so that makes me have to search through an awful lot of RSNs to find out were the game is. Also not every game is avial on the mlbei package even though it is being shown on an RSN.
Another issue to that argument: what's the point of having the MLBEI channels and schedule info on directv.com/mlb when they can't figure out how to make it work? Shouldn't they just fix the problem or eliminate the MLBEI channels and web info and just say tune to RSN?

question.........cincy fan here, live in ft lauderdale florida marlins home territory with extra innings and sports pak.....the marlins have no local tv coverage for tonights game (4/14) vs the reds, but the away feed (cincy) is still blacked out on both the rsn and mlbei channels......i could swear i've been able to watch away feeds in the past when there was no local telecast, which is very rare. any thoughts?

That, to me, is an example of the most ridiculous of the blackout rules. Even more so than the Saturday FOX rule.
They will blackout the "other team's" feed for a game that involves a team in your home territory, regardless of whether that game is televised locally or not. They always just assume that there will be local broadcast. I see no reason why they can't just open up the only available feed in those situations, as rare as they may be.

The Cincy announcers said the crowd was "much larger" than the previous night. Thats one way to increase the paying customers, just blackout all feeds.
Go Marlins.....Marlins fan in Arkansas
Its possible that they are just going in and refreshing the services on your account and then it comes on for you. That dont really mean its your equipment but someone could of interpreted it that way. If it happens again try refreshing the services yourself from the website and see if that fixes it or not. Try this link to do that.

I agree Swyman....... I wasn't aware that it was an actual blackout rule, i just assumed direct tv forgot to flip the switch......i did end up "watching" most of the game on the hd mix channel along with 7 others.....:hurah:

......unfortunately for the marlins they could double their average crowd on any given nite and still barely break 20,000 in attendance.......

That is completely MLB's rules/fault, nothing that DirecTV can do about it. For the most part, the NHL package works as you describe (Center Ice games can be shown in-market if there is no home broadcast).

Oh, I know. I'm definately aware it's all on the MLB side.
Yeah, I think the NBA does the same as the NHL for their package. They'll actually make adjustments to ensure at least one feed is available if there is no local broacast.

Really? I've never heard of that. Interesting. Not that it would ever help me. My local teams are always on locally.

Last 2 nights had the issue with Rockies v Padres on the HD channel (just the D* hd logo) and did a reauthorization through the link above and 5 min later the issue was fixed.
My next question is why does it happen? And how do i avoid having to resend the authorization every day?
