I think I have the ears of an engineer at Directv that is wanting to help resolve the audio dropout issue.

Can those experiencing the dropouts help me put together a list of channels that you experience the problem with?

My main channels of issue(not limited too, but what we watch most and notice dropouts on)

All HD channels
ESPN
FOODTV
FX
HBO
HGTV
SPEED
TNT
USA

Versus has been, lately.

Oddly, ESPN hasn't had any the last few days.

Awwww man, I hope they aren't back. ESPN has gone back & forth for years it seems. It was annoying during the Masters, then it got better this week. I watched the Iverson doc, Rome Is Burning, ATH, & PTI this week and it was great.

I see intermittant drop outs with music on BYU TV in standard definition.
I think the head end for BYU TV may be an HD signal

It would be a much shorter list if you ask for the channels that don't have a problem...... He's pulling your chain.

Who's pulling who's chain?

The engineer at Directv is pulling your chain if he says he needs/wants a list. They know by now what the problem channels are, hell I've told them myself several times and I'm sure others have too. lol

Think what you want. I actually wanted the list myself just to get an idea of how wide the list is. He didn't ask for anything more than my specific problem channels. I obviously don't watch every channel they offer so I took it upon my self to ask in here.

The gentleman that called me Friday told me he was an engineer. He asked some questions about the issue such as which channels, how often, times of day etc. I don't have any reason not to believe he is who he says is nor do I have a reason not to try and help him. I want the issue fixed. He is recording a few channels I suggested I might watch this weekend and I'm tracking dropouts to report back to him.

I really don't know what engineering is actually acknowledging as the problem vs what customer service or the customer advocate team has told me in the past. I've received different answers each time I called. So, until I have a recent not to, I'm going to work with this guy.

I'm just saying he/they already know all of this and are just making you feel like you are helping. I'm not saying you shouldn't help, in fact you should. I'll bet you a dollar to a donut he is going to tell you how much you've helped him pinpoint the problem just like they did me (and I bet others too) months ago. They are jerking all of our chains...... :D

I am having the most problem with one of the Dayton local channels. For some reason the ABC station (WKEF) has had problems at least every other day for over a week. Directv told me a few days it was fixed and it was really bad again this afternoon.

I've had very minor dropouts, about 1 sec on ESPN, YES, Comedy Central and Discovery Channel. My Onkyo receiver does not make the clicking sounds during these dropouts.

The one major dropout I had was on my local Fox channel. I had to red button reset the DVR to restore sound.
