No thanks. You'd have to pay me to take the inferior PQ of Dish Network HD.

Read about that over at avs. Are they getting desperate? Or is it brilliant marketing?
Someone pointed out in the Dish forums that in the "200 HD channels", 57 of them are PPV. That's a lot of bloat in their count!
Plus, with MRV, combined playlist, SWiM, PBS/CW/MyNetTV HD, ability to stream radio/movies on my HR2x, AND DirecTV2PC, I'm staying put. Especially since I'm out of contract at the moment!
My phone company (CenturyTel, was Embarq) has been trying to get me on dish for awhile now. It was free for a year, and now is $19 for a year with just about everything. The thing that kills it is the 2yr commitment and the fact that it is Dish
I so wish that CenturyTel would link up with DirecTV vs. Dish :(

I was a Directv subscriber for 5 yrs then had to move to an apartment for 13 months. The apartment did not face in the right direction for me to still get Directv so I was left with only one option.
The apartment complex only option for renters other than satellite, was Ygnition. Which is Dish Network fed into all of the apartments. I hated it. The PQ was terrible. This was right around the time that Dish Network got rid of the Voom! channels and added a bunch of other HD channels in its place. I made several complaints to get those HD channels added.
The only thing I liked about Dish Network was the ability of their DVR to do picture in picture with both of the DVRs tuners. That is a feature I am hoping Directv adds at some point.
Other than that, Dish Network was terrible. Thankfully I was only there for 13 months and have been back with Directv for 2 yrs.

Yeah, brilliant marketing to people who have the ability to show up at a certain location in L.A. between 11 AM and 2 PM on a Tuesday. I couldn't take advantage of this offer even if I wanted to, since I have a job with a regular "9 to 5" schedule.

Not just PPV, but VOD to the Slingbox-enabled receiver only, which means people with no access to broadband can't even get them!
