301 software upgrade

I just noticed my 301 has new software 1.83..Does anybody know what they changed?

according to Dishnet's software upgrade page:
http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/customerCare/technical/software_versions/index.asp - the current "official" one is 1.82...

for a while now 1.89 was given to some/selective/most (i think) irds.... - so i d say - have another look - you either have 1.82 or 1.89

But speaking of the devil - the new versions for 301 - as of Aug 12/03 - new 2.10 software is being given to some/selective 301 irds now... (have a look)

On the subject - Anyone took the new 2.10 yet?
if so - what's new in it? - anything interesting, any improvements, any bugs fixed, any new bugs, etc??? :)

I have version 2.10. I just noticed that yesterday. But I don't know what new improvements were done. I think this is the software that makes major improvements to the Programming Guide.

Does anyone else know what version 2.10 for Dish301 does for improvements?

I thought they always had 2 diffrent codes because some 301's have a diffrent chipset

There are two different versions of the 301 D/E, if you read your software version 1.83 will be followed by a D and 2.10 will be followed by an E. I don't know for sure, but I'm almost certain that software is to support the Superdish.

BTW (going by Deuce's theory) - anybody who have taken 2.10, noticed any Superdish Option (or something simular) at the Installation Menu?
Or maybe 105 or 121 appeared at the Installation Menu there (or something like that)? ... Same as 129 appeared in the past at the Install Menu...

Anything like that after 2.10 upgrade?

One of my 301s here that I checked has 2.10E. Did not notice any SuperDish related options. Did not notice any improvement in the guide.

I also have 2.10E. Been searching around and have seen no superdish related info. The switch and signal strength screens all look the same.

The guide also looks the same, still says aquiring sat signal, etc. I believe there are new interactive features although I don't use them so they might have been there for a while. I see a kids wise, pro football scores, it now plays music when you are at dish home.

Other than dish home changes (which may or may not be new for this release) I can't notice any changes.

Maybe its an experiment in which is downloaded to only selected customers and if there are any problems they can tell if there are any if customers call in and tell them. I believe this was done before when new software was being released.

My 301s always updated oddly. One of them did not get the update that got rid of the blue from the channel bar, for at least two weeks after my other two 301s. Then this one 301 gets this 2.10E software but not the others. Oh well. As long as it works, and it has.
