Expressvu Will Have 21 Hdtv Channels By Sept 15th
With The Add On's Of Discovery-hd, Tsn-hd And
Sportsnet-hd.<perfect Blue Jays In Hdtv>
The One Thing I Can't Understand Is Why Is It That
Charlie And Dave Are Sitting On There Hands And Only
Have A Few Hdtv Channels. Is This Possible Because Of
The Failure Of The Merger. My Gut Feeling Is That
Charlie Will Launch These 50hdtv Channels And
Superdish At One Time, Keeping Fingers Crossed.

Good thing those of us in the "southern provinces" can get our HD somewhere. :-)

It is not that simple, I suspect some of those HD channels are Canadian only. The channels in Canada are a little different then the channels here in the US, even the ones who share the same name and ownership, a channel in Canada may own the writes to a particular show in Canada, an entirely diferent channel may own the US wrights to the same exact show, which means that E* or D* can not just automatically add a channel just because it is available on satellite in Canada.

I dont even think there are 50 HD channels out there yet. Its pretty bad if Dish has so many more subs than ExpressVu being a bigger company and they cannot launch half as many channels as ExpressVu.
Canada does not have the local-market system that we do--therefore ExpressVu with 64 transponders can do a lot more HD.
It would be nice if they could team up for HD locals in maybe the top 3 US markets

Any word if Expressvu will have the 811 when Dish releases it here? Sportsnet and TSN in HD would be very cool if they will cover the Leafs games in HD! And if CBC and Hockey Night in Canada decide to HD, I would definitely be in heaven. :)
I just don't want to spend big bucks on an old 6000 right now if the 811 ends up at $350-400 Cdn.

Yeah I thought about that after posting that ExpressVu would have a lot more room for HD since they are not launching all the local cities like Dish and Direct are doing. I bet they dont plan on doing so either. You have your advantages and disadvantages.

Just a guess; but since the 6000 is out of production, I would think Express view will have the 811 very soon, after Dish.

Refering back to some of the other replys, expressvu carries
all the locals across canada, over 25. I have sold almost all
my 6000's waiting for charlie's and vu new 811.
Expressvu now almost has 1.4 million customers with two
satellites names nimiq 1 and nimiq 2. It is overwelming that
dishnetwork and directv have so little hdtv content bur as
I suspect charlie will push forward like he always has.
