View Full Version : Where to locate receiver for wall/corner mount tv?

My current TVs are either in a cabinet or on a stand, with the receiver/DVR underneath it.

If I add a TV in the sunroom I think I would want to wall mount it in the corner. Pic attached. It would be a small ~25 incher on a mount with one of those swing arms. But I dont know where to put the receiver for such a situation, unless I were to put in/on a small cabinet under it. Do they make wall mounts that hold a receiver as well? Remotely locate the receiver somewhere? Just looking for ideas/pics.

Get an RF remote and put the receiver anywhere that's convenient. All you need to do is figure out how to get the necessary cable(s) from the receiver to the TV. Using a single HDMI is probably best.

When do you plan on doing this? I say this because if you can wait a little bit (Apparently less than a month according to solidsignal.com) the H24 should be available, and the First Look says it's made to be wall mountable, and they even show it wall mounted. If you're going for a DVR though, I'd definitely do as Battlezone suggested and control it via RF while it's located elsewhere, if possible.

It is a while off. I think this location would not be a DVR, just a receiver, MRV'd.

I'd wait then and pick up an H24. They're supposed to be wall mountable, and faster than the current units.

I had missed the wall mountable aspect of the H24. That might do it.

But what about the birdhouses?

I mounted it sideways on the left wall behind a catty-corner mounted 42" plasma on an articulating arm.

This (http://www.dbstalk.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=20105&d=1258049416) photo shows the bracket with arm extended and the plasma display moved away from the wall.

The HR2x fit perfectly between joists in a basement, run an HDMI down to the basement behind the TV and put the receiver in RF mode. Done.

Aww... you noticed. :sure: I am sure a birdie could move them to another wall. For now, they will stay.

I think I copied you with this idea and I'm fairly certain this is the VCR mount I used (although I got mine at home depot a few years ago).

At any rate, the gadget I'm seeing is a $13 VCR mount, Sam's Club product ID# 461688.
