About a week ago, my 721 reset (again /sigh) spontaneously. After the ridiculously long reboot procedure and self-check, the system came back as expected.

However, now the EPG is kind of wonky on me. The font looks like it's shrunk from say 12 px to 10px, which conseqently has an effect on the box sizes around the whole screen and the show listings.

Additionally to that, the screen is shifted up by about 1/2" on my TV... now the very tippy-top portion of my screen is cut off when I'm in Guide mode. It looks just fine in the PVR screen, or when I'm watching the show itself... but in the guide mode, it looks horrid.

I've tried unplugging and resetting the beast... it still comes back with the ugly guide. Anyone have any solutions?

Do a search here, this sounds real familiar to me. I remember a thread with a similar problem.

I assume you've tried rebooting? Also, it has been this way for more than a week?

Someone here knows what to do, I'm certain I've read about this one before.

Yep, tried rebooting (twice) ... left it alone for more than a week now before posting here, hoping it would clear itself up. It's kinda hard to explain what it looks like in words. I will take a picture tonight and post it up so you can see what I'm talking about... that'll define "wonky!" :)

If I remember correctly from the last post that looked like this, the recommendation was to wait for the next software update. I think the person actually forced a re-install of the OS by unplugging, opening the unit, unplugging the drive, turning it on, unplugging, connecting the drive, and turning it back on. (but this is just a vague recollection.) I'd still recommend the search.

Sounds like the same problem I have had for about the last 45 days.I talked about it here but no one else seems to have had the same problem. I'm just hopeing the new software will give me back the great looking EPG I had.

Something in your 721's has become corrupted(obviously) However whatever that corruption is hasn't been detected by the builtin filesystem check. If it was the 721 would have reinstalled its OS and you'd have the standard guide back again.
You can wait for the next software release which should fix it or force a reinstall yourself. It requires removing the cover and unplugging the power connector from the harddrive.(with the 721 unplugged!) When the power connector to the harddrive removed plug the 721 in, it will detect the harddrive has failed. Now unplug the 721 again and plug the harddrive power connector back in. Once again plug your 721 in and it will detect the harddrive is back and reinstall the OS - your guide will be back. Keep in mind this procedure may void your warranty and it will *forsure* remove any recordings on the harddrive.

Good luck, have fun...
