I was reading this article in the News Link Forum at DBS Forums, "http://www.skyreport.com/viewskyreport.cfm?ReleaseID=1187#Story2", and I noticed in the last paragraf that E* placed an order in July for construction of a new satellite. It seams that it has spotbeams and will provide backup for the current spotbeam satellite and possibly some new services. This will be interesting how E* configures this new bird, will it be a all spot beam bird like D* 2 spotbeam birds are or will it be a hybrid like the current ones? Now if E* adds a couple more up-link centers by 05, E* could finally eliminate the 2-dish solution for some local markets and with E10 at 110 or 119 combined with locals on 105 and possibly 121, there is a very real possibility of 100% local coverage by 05 or 06.

Yes, Charlie mentioned during Retailer Chat, that Echostar 10 is in the works now, and will be launched in 2005...

He said, IT should serve as a Back-up to Local Markets, and also will have an additional advanced capacity
